Kokura-ori was a unique textile that was produced at the beginning of the 17th century by the feudal clan of Kokura area in southern Japan. The cotton cloth, woven in a vertical stripe pattern, was prized throughout Japan to make beautiful fashion. Thick and strong. Soft and smooth. The artisans of SHIMA SHIMA recreate this traditional fabric with new designs and colors; a modern take on this beautiful historical craft.
SHIMA SHIMA's FUROSHIKI Bag is meant to emulate the traditional shape of old-style bags tied from FUROSHIKI Cloth (Square Cloth).
The bag has lots of room in its interior, with two handles shaped almost like bunny-ears. Tie the tips of these handles together to get that signature knot at the top!
Thick and strong -- it is perfect for a short trip to the grocery store! Comes in 3 patterns to match your look of the day !
