Kokura-ori was a unique textile that was produced at the beginning of the 17th century by the feudal clan of Kokura area in  southern Japan. The cotton cloth, woven in a vertical stripe pattern, was prized throughout Japan to make beautiful fashion. Thick and strong. Soft and smooth. The artisans of SHIMA SHIMA recreate this traditional fabric with new designs and colors; a modern take on this beautiful historical craft.

SHIMA SHIMA's Kokura-Ori Forté Bag is thick and sturdy, but incredibly soft to the touch. Created as a smaller sized handbag, it is perfect for situations where you might just need to go to lunch or store small items for a buffet party. Its handle is created with a new type of material, created as a hybrid between rubber and leather called Forté. The soft handle is durable and resistant to water and friction, allowing it to be used for a long time.

Its interior lining is cushioned, with a small pocket on one side. Perfect for carrying important and delicate items alike.

Its stylish stripes will add an aura of 'smart' to any outfit!
