Kokura-ori was a unique textile that was produced at the beginning of the 17th century by the feudal clan of Kokura area in southern Japan. The cotton cloth, woven in a vertical stripe pattern, was prized throughout Japan to make beautiful fashion. Thick and strong. Soft and smooth. The artisans of SHIMA SHIMA recreate this traditional fabric with new designs and colors; a modern take on this beautiful historical craft.
SHIMA SHIMA's Reversible Scarf comes in two colors : Black Monochrome and Blue Monochrome, however both colors come in reversing patterns on each side. One side has thinner stripes, and the other side has thicker stripes.
Kokura-ori cloth is strong and thick, but its smoothness is soft on the skin. Can also be used as beautiful decor in the home or office!
